Anointing of the Sick is also called Unction. This sacrament calls for the anointing of the sick with oil or the laying on of hands, and is the means by which God’s grace is given for the healing of spirit, mind and body. In this sacrament, we pray for healing and wholeness. Christians recognize that there is a difference between being healed and being cured. It can be administered for healing at any time and is not reserved solely for those who are gravely ill.
Clergy may be called to administer this sacrament in hospitals or nursing homes. Healing services are held at noon every Tuesday at St. Mark’s.
