COMMUNITY OUTREACH
BREAKFAST CAFE
Every Saturday, volunteers from St. Mark’s and other partnership parishes serve a free breakfast to our homeless neighbors and those who are in need. Once a month, local Michigan State medical students also provide a health clinic to address the health needs of this population during this time. This ministry is largely funded by grants, but also by the generosity of donors. Volunteers are always welcome: we need cooks, servers, coffee makers, greeters and clean-up help.
Degage provides responsive programs for people experiencing homelessness. Services include meals, hygiene, overnight respite for women in crisis, and referral services.
TOGETHER WEST MICHIGAN
he 19-member organizations of TWM are working together to advocate for and solve serious problems facing Grand Rapids residents. Our focus areas include Housing, Public Safety, Mental Health, Child Care, and Immigrant and Refugee Well-Being. We are always looking for more passionate people to get involved!
We support this local, public elementary school by providing reading tutors and gathering school supplies throughout the year. We are always in need of committed tutors who are ready to make a difference in a child’s life.
UNITED CAMPUS CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP
On Wednesdays during the school year, St. Mark’s opens its doors to local GRCC and Kendall College students for lunch and fellowship. Led by Pastor Kate Van Valkenburg, UCCF is a campus ministry organization active at GVSU, GRCC and Kendall College of Art and Design. UCCF is a partnership organization of local Presbyterian, Methodist, Lutheran, UCC, and Episcopal churches. We can always use help providing lunch and invite you to come and spend time meeting and connecting with these students.
