The Parish Life Ministry provides opportunities to increase the sense of community within St. Mark’s, including those new to St. Mark’s and existing parishioners attending church-sponsored events. We offer gatherings for newcomers, and we also schedule many other social events for all throughout the year.
On Sundays, we offer a fellowship hour after each service for newcomers and long-time members, as well. Following the 8 a.m. service, we meet in the third floor Meeting Room, which was formerly the Nursery, and following the 10:30 a.m. service, we meet in the Parish Hall. Volunteers offer coffee, pastries, treats, and conversation.
The Parish Life Ministry regularly offers festive receptions, such as the Easter Vigil-Easter day services, and events during the year, including Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, a Spring Fling in May, a Homecoming Picnic on September, and a breakfast for the youth group.
Throughout the year additional get-togethers may include bike rides, baseball and hockey games, ice skating at Rosa Barks Circle, and theater attendance. Recently, groups have met for lunch at St. Mark’s and walked to the Civic Theatre to see plays such as Les Miserables, Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, and Beauty and the Beast.
