St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, located in the heart of downtown in the beautiful city
of Grand Rapids, Michigan, is seeking
a new rector. Over the last 179 years,
St. Mark’s has played an active role in
the growth of the community and has
valued a tradition of worship, music, and
fellowship in addition to community
involvement and advancement.
St. Mark’s is committed to social justice and takes seriously its tagline to “welcome all.” Here is our mission: “We are an inclusive community of faith, reflecting Christ’s love, ministering to all who hunger in body, mind and spirit.”
Every Sunday, St. Mark’s offers breakfast for homeless neighbors, along with other programs that invite them into the church. St. Mark’s also has a formal arrangement to provide tutoring at a nearby school and supports Heartside Ministries and other downtown agencies. St. Mark’s became the first church in Grand Rapids to gain accreditation from Partners for a Racism-Free Community.
